Helena Cantrell:  7th and 8th grade Science, 7th  grade Latin.

About Me:

I really love our campus and I really love being able to use the real world, with real rocks, real plants, and real living systems in my teaching.
I grew up in Arizona, and I've also lived in Florida, Massachusetts, and Georgia. I've been in Texas since 2000. I have four children and three grandchildren. My son graduated from Treetops and my daughter is in High School here at Treetops.
Science-wise I'm most interested in botany and geology (Bring me a rock!) Other-wise, I'm interested in knitting, camping, and picking up stray bits of metal, not necessarily in that order.

Education: BS with a major in Biology from Georgia Southern University; MS in Secondary Education from Texas Christian University.
Certifications: Generalist EC-4 and 4-8; Science 8-12; Life Sciences 8-12.

Experience: The 2016-17 school year is my 11th year at Treetops and in that time I've taught Science in almost every grade. Looks like I have settled down to Middle School for now :)
Before Treetops I taught Biology labs at Georgia Southern University while I was in graduate school. My research centered on pitcher plant mosquitoes. I was Biology Lab Coordinator at GSU for a while too.

Personal Snippet:
 Just be nice!
