Marla May: 3rd grade
A little bit about me:
I was born in Decatur, IL on October 16, 1969 (no, people knowing my age doesn't bother me) and lived there until I was in 3rd grade.  I lived Darien, GA through 10th grade, then we moved again and I graduated from Lewisville High School in 1987.  I started at the University of North Texas in the fall of 1987.  I graduated from UNT with my Bachelor's in 1991 and my Master's in Education in 1992.  I taught 6th grade math in Keller ISD from the fall of 1992 through the Spring of 1999.  I returned to Keller ISD in the Fall of 2003  to teach 5th grade and remained there until the Spring of 2013.  Mrs. Catie and I taught together in Keller ISD for 3 years and I went to college with Mrs. Laura G...that's how I learned about Treetops.  I am married to a wonderful husband, Frank, and we have 2 boys, 17 year old Bryce who is a Senior at Bethesda Christian School and 22 year old Addison who is a senior at Tarleton State University.  :-)  We also adopted a dog on July 25, 2015.  She is a sweet 4 year old Lab-Mix named Princess Leia (my husband is a Star Wars fan).  A few fun facts about Ms Marla's family:  May of 2017 will be a busy month for us…Addison will be graduating from Tarleton in mid-May, Bryce turns 18 on May 20, Addison turns 23 on May 26 and then gets married on May 27, AND Bryce graduates from Bethesda on May 28!  Whew!  :-)
I started teaching 3rd grade at Treetops during the 2013-2014 school year and have absolutely loved it…these past three years have been my best and most favorite years of teaching ever!  I am very thankful and feel so fortunate to be a part of this wonderful Treetopian family!  "Love what you do and do what you love," is one of my favorite sayings…I am extremely glad I get to live this out everyday when I go to work! :-)  When I'm not at work, I enjoy spending time with my family, exercising (favorites include walking my dog, Zumba and yoga), traveling, and scrapbooking.  :-)  I'm looking forward to another great year of teaching some more fabulous 3rd graders!
